Lead Cash Register Operator

Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in operating a cash register, training and scheduling other cash register operators, ordering and stocking small items and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Operates a cash register.
Trains and schedules workers.
Orders and stocks items customarily sold at a check out counter such as cigarettes, candy and photo supplies.
Verifies cash register readouts.
Makes change as required.
Approves checks and money orders.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of basic English and arithmetic.
Knowledge of cash register operations.
Ability to oversee cash register operations.
Ability to operate a cash register and to verify readouts.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, public and other employees.
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Experience in operating a cash register.
