Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in non-professional nursing duties and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Administers nursing care to patients on campus, including routine medications, and simple treatments as ordered.
Records observations of symptoms, reactions, care and treatment given.
Prepares and cares for equipment used by infirmary.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of nursing.
Knowledge of equipment used in the infirmary.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly.
Ability to provide basic nursing care.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with patients and other employees.
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Licensed as a Practical Nurse in Tennessee.
