Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in overseeing pressroom activities and supervising Offset Press Operators. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Plans work schedules and makes assignments.
Checks and inspects work for progress and quality.
Inventories supplies and submits supply list.
Operates press equipment during absences.
Recommends hiring, promotion and termination of employees.
Trains new employees.
Completes work performance evaluations.
Performs preventive maintenance on presses.
Occasionally assists others operating a Webb Press.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to plan, organize, and schedule work assignments.
Ability to train and supervise employees, and to evaluate performance.
Ability to repair and maintain presses.
Ability to operate offset press and Webb Press.
Ability to inspect work for completeness and quality.
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High school graduate or equivalent; supervisory experience; three or more years experience operating offset press equipment.
