ETSU Entrepreneurs’ Club to host former AFG president Wayne Basler


JOHNSON CITY (August 9, 2013) – East Tennessee State University’s student Entrepreneurs’ Club will welcome Wayne Basler as its speaker on Monday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m. in room 334 of Sam Wilson Hall.

A graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in ceramic engineering, Basler first worked as a research engineer for the Aluminum Company of America in 1956. From there, he became a research engineer, glass development manager and production manager for Ford Motor Co., and in 1972, he became director of technical development for Guardian Industries.

In 1977, Balser was named president of West Virginia’s Fourco Glass Co., which merged with ASG Industries in Kingsport to become AFG Industries Inc. Basler, a long-time friend and benefactor of ETSU, was director and president of AFG until his retirement.
