Juniors, seniors, grad students invited to ‘Real World 101’ at ETSU

JOHNSON CITY (March 14, 2014) – The East Tennessee State University Alumni Association will hold its “Graduation Celebration: Real World 101” event for undergraduate students with 60 or more hours and all graduate students Tuesday, March 18, from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. in the D.P. Culp University Center ballroom.

The event features free food, prizes, and advice about graduation and life thereafter.

“Graduation Celebration” gives students a chance to order their official ETSU class rings from Balfour Jewelers and check out other Balfour graduation supplies, such as invitations and “thank you” letters. Students will also receive information about joining the ETSU Alumni Association and can pick up their caps and gowns for the May 2014 commencement ceremony from the ETSU Registrar’s Office.

MAC Cosmetics will offer color demonstrations to those in attendance and professional photographer Jack Mayfield will be on hand to photograph students in their caps and gowns. Jones Chiropractic will offer free chair massages.

Attendees should also bring copies of their résumés and cover letters to the event, as representatives from the University Career Services office, known as the “Résumé Doctors” for this event, will be available to critique them and offer advice about possible changes.

Representatives from the ETSU Graduate School, Financial Aid and Financial Services offices will distribute information about master’s degrees and important exit information. Also, businesses from the community will provide information and giveaways relating to life after college.
