ETSU Bands to present 'Symphonic Soundtracks'

JOHNSON CITY – Classical music from the world of movies will be highlighted in “Symphonic Soundtracks,” the Ending Spring Bands Concert at East Tennessee State University, on Thursday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the D.P. Culp University Center’s Martha Street Culp Auditorium.

The ETSU Chamber Winds and Symphonic Winds will perform movements from Robert Washburn’s “Symphony for Band,” Vittorio Giannini’s “Symphony No. 3” and Johan de Meij’s “Lord of the Rings,” as well as selections from Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story,” Andre Previn’s “Lawrence of Arabia,” and more.

The bands will be joined by new ETSU tuba/euphonium professor Dr. Stephanie Frye on Martin Ellerby’s “Tuba Concerto.”

Dr. Christian Zembower, ETSU director of bands, conducts the Chamber Winds and Symphonic Winds.
