Dr. Audrey Depelteau

Dr. Audrey Depelteau, director, Innovation Laboratory, recently completed the National Business Incubation Association’s Incubator Management Certificate Program.  The certificate represents extensive training and skill-building in supporting entrepreneurs from concept through commercialization.

The program of study covered several topics germane to the development of small businesses.  The curriculum focused on developing practical and meaningful skills for business incubator leaders, such as establishing sustainable entrepreneurship platforms, building successful client companies, and creating and operating facilities that serve client companies and operations.

Fred Sauceman, University Relations, had an article titled “Saving Cherokee” published in the May issue of Our State magazine.  The article covers efforts to save the Cherokee language at the Atse Kituwah Academy in Cherokee, North Carolina.

Dr. Ted Olson, Appalachian Studies, produced and wrote liner notes for a Bear Family Records boxed set, “Tennessee Ernie Ford, 1949-1960: Portrait of an American Singer.”  This set, containing all the secular-themed studio recordings of Tennessee Ernie Ford during that time, is part of several celebrations of Ford’s legacy in 2015, which is the 60th anniversary of the artist’s hit single “Sixteen Tons.”  Read more at https://www.etsu.edu/news/2015/06_jun/olsontennernieford.aspx
