Dr. Fred Alsop recognized by Washington County Historical Association

JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 26, 2015) -- 

Dr. Fred Alsop, professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and director of the George L. Carter Railroad Museum, has been awarded one of the first Washington County Historical Association’s Awards of Merit.

In his letter announcing the honor, John Kiener, president of the Association, notes, “The award recognizes your status as the “Founding Father” of the George L. Carter Railroad Museum on the campus of East Tennessee State University. The Historical Association recognizes how vital railroads have been in the growth of Washington County and the enormous time and energy you have put into creating and maintaining the museum that highlights their importance in a very educational and unique way.”
