JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 1, 2015) – East Tennessee State University’s Outstanding Staff Senator of 2014-15 is Stefanie Murphy, an academic counselor in the University Advisement Center.

Murphy is president-elect of the Staff Senate, and has served as member-at-large of the Executive Committee and as a member of various other committees.  She received this award during the recent Staff Convocation hosted by the Staff Senate.

“Stefanie has always been enthusiastic and dedicated to her committees and seat on the Staff Senate,” one individual wrote in support of her nomination.  As a member of the Visibility Committee, “she has gone to offices handing out the senate pamphlet and cards and talking to people to let them know we’re here if they need us.  Stefanie arranges her schedule so she is available to help with her committees and others’ events.  She is always at the Food Drive and Staff Picnic, doing what needs to be done.”

Others called her “a face for ETSU” and “Team ETSU,” noting her frequent attendance at many sporting events and other happenings in the university community.

“Stefanie is one of those folks who listens, thinks, and then reacts with offers of both praise and help,” another supporter wrote.  “Never has (she) been demanding in anything she does, yet she gets the job done well.”
