What is that strange thing in the parking garage?

Electric vehicle charger in ETSU parking garage

ETSU Facilities Management and Parking Services recently installed a level two electric vehicle charger at the west entrance to the parking garage.

This unit is compatible with any electric vehicle and has been added to benefit students who use such vehicles for their commute to campus.

The system was donated by the Black Bear Solar Institute, a nonprofit organization headquartered in the Great Smoky Mountains and founded to incorporate renewable energy, alternatively fueled transportation and wildlife rehabilitation into public demonstration projects.

The charger is available only for students and has a two-hour maximum on parking time. There is no charge for use of the system, since it is included as part of students’ regular parking fees.
