JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 10, 2018) – East Tennessee State University will celebrate National Transfer Student Week during the second week of October.
This celebration was created on a national level to recognize the students who transfer throughout the state, country and world to complete their educations. At ETSU, 31 percent of students have transferred from other institutions, and 71 percent of those students have transferred from community colleges, according to Dr. Carla Warner, director of Adult, Commuter and Transfer Services (ACTS) at ETSU.
As part of ETSU’s Division of Student Affairs, ACTS assists transfer and adult students in making connections and building a sense of belonging within the university community. Through a variety of campus programs and student advocacy and recognition events, ACTS furthers the goal of supporting and welcoming transfer students by involving the entire campus, including faculty, staff, students and administration.
“The goal of this week’s celebration is to recognize our transfer students and to welcome and celebrate our transfer students as members of the Buccaneer family,” Warner said.
The following free activities are planned as part of National Transfer Week:
- D.J. Trivia Night – Wednesday, Oct. 17, 7-9 p.m., court 4, Wayne G. Basler Center for Physical Activity
- Campus Services Fair – Thursday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Quad
- “The Deal is Right” Game Show – Friday, Oct. 19, 6-8 p.m., 206 Brown Hall
The ACTS office is currently located in room 104 of the Sherrod Library. Its website is www.etsu.edu/students/acts.
