JOHNSON CITY (Aug. 8, 2019) – Two librarians from East Tennessee State University’s Medical Library were elected to serve as 2019-2020 officers for the Tennessee Health Science Library Association (THeSLA).
Emily Weyant, clinical reference librarian, will serve as president of the association. Dr. Rick Wallace, associate director/professor, was elected vice president.
The THeSLA organization promotes education and cooperation among health science libraries in Tennessee and supports health professionals in the use of high-quality health information resources.
Travis Clamon, formerly of the ETSU Medical Library and now at ETSU’s Sherrod Library, has been elected to the office of membership chair for THeSLA.
In addition to serving as president of the organization, Weyant is also coordinating the planning committee for the 2019 THeSLA annual meeting, which will be hosted at ETSU today. Approximately 25-30 attendees from across the state are expected to attend this meeting, which will include a health literacy workshop delivered by a National Network of Libraries of Medicine trainer.
“ETSU libraries are excited to host this event, which brings librarians and allies together to discuss relevant issues in medical libraries ranging from information retrieval and organization to customer service and impact on patient care,” Weyant said.
