The Generation Rx Initiative began at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in 2007 as a program to enhance medication safety and combat the increasing misuse and abuse of prescription drugs through educational prevention.
Partnering with the Cardinal Health Foundation, the program has created toolkits aimed at specific audiences that are available to the public at no cost.
"My name is Brandie LeBlanc, and I am a third year dual degree student pharmacist concurrently working on my Master's Degree in Epidemiology. Generation Rx is a passion for our school due to the overwhelming amount of prescription drug abuse in our area. In our state of Tennessee, prescription drug overdoses are the 2nd leading cause of death. Through this program we educate children, adolescents, and adults on the dangers of prescription drug abuse and misuse through collaborative, innovative programming in the community."
