The mission of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists is to provide information about psychotherapeutic agents, patient care, and community support, to facilitate programs in the areas of psychiatric and neurologic pharmacy within the community, and to promote research in and improve patient care. The student chapter at ETSU accomplishes this in several ways. We sponsor expert speakers during Suicide Prevention Week as well as presentations through the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Our members have been involved in "Project REVIVE!" This program trains individuals to use intranasal naloxone to reverse an opioid overdose. Several of our members are now trainers in this program.
In an effort to help others understand what it is like to live the neurologic and psychiatric illness, we sponsor "Lunch and Learns," where students bring their lunch and listen to a patient explain what it's like to live with a disease. We host individuals with epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, alcoholism, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
We also give back to the community through supplies drives throughout the year.
