What brought you here?

BS: My stepmother was originally from the area. When she and my father moved here about 14 years ago, I started coming up visiting and decided I loved the area and being a native of Florida, wanted to live somewhere that had 4 very distinct seasons. I started looking for employment in the area and was blessed to be hired here!

Describe what you do?

BS: Among many tasks, I oversee the DPP's many budgets and am the department chair’s assistant. I coordinate events, arrange travel for faculty, prepare contracts for our clinical affiliates, and oversee the execution of those contracts from start to finish. In addition, I provide support to all DPP faculty.

What do you love most about your job?

BS: I love all aspects of my job, but if I had to pick, I’d have to say I enjoy the budgets and contracts processes the most.

How do you impact students?

BS: I don’t have a lot of contact with the students. However, it is always a pleasure watching the few I do have the opportunity to get to know walk across the stage at graduation. I know how happy and proud they and their families must be during that moment!

How is the Gatton community unique?

BS: Everyone here is very supportive of one another, both in and out of the college. We have a very unique culture in that we are very much one big family. We work hard when we are here but we also support each other. We share in everyone’s joys, celebrations and sorrows. We are there to help lift each other up!

What do you do in your free time?

BS: I love to walk and ride my bike. Also, I love to travel as often as possible to visit my two sons. One recently moved to Boston and I have never been to that city so I am looking forward to visiting him sometime soon. The other son just graduated from college in Ft. Myers, Florida, so it is still up in the air where he may end up!

What is your last TV binge?

BS: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime

What books are on your nightstand?

BS: The Bible, always! And right now, the most recent edition of Southern Living Magazine

What’s a “weird” fact about yourself that many might not know?

BS: I once came in second in the state of Florida in a women’s bowling tournament.

Anything else you want to mention?

BS: I love all animals, especially cats and would own several if I had a large enough home. My sons lovingly call me The Crazy Cat Lady!
