Interdisciplinary Research Grants aim to encourage faculty members to forge collaborative projects that stimulate the development of new ideas and areas of research and scholarship. Such projects include all fields and disciplines, including the basic and health sciences and non-sciences such as the humanities and the fine and performing arts. Grants are awarded for the fiscal year July 1 through June 30. This competitive, peer-reviewed program provides initial support for long-term programs of collaborative interdisciplinary research that have strong potential to attract external funding. Proposals that involve multiple colleges, centers, and/or departments at East Tennessee State University and are built on demonstrated existing collaborations are encouraged. These costs can include faculty summer stipends, student assistants, supplies, equipment, and travel as described in the RDC Interdisciplinary Grant Application Guidelines.
