DISTRICT ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE

FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT
JONESBOROUGH, TN

SOPHOMORE SENIOR LEVELS

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: The First Judicial District Attorney General's Office is comprised of four counties: Washington, Johnson, Carter, and Unicoi. The office prosecutes criminal offenses committed against the State of Tennessee at the General Sessions and Criminal Court level. Each court is assigned specific prosecutors to perform court duties. Our office also has a child support enforcement division to cover the counties listed above as well.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Filing of paperwork and files, assisting with answering phones/walk-ins, operation of various office equipment, copying files for Assistant District Attorneys, assist in pulling dockets for miscellaneous court days, assist in entering case information into software programs, assist in typing court correspondence, and any other secretarial duty assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be seeking degree in applicable academic majors, and pass background check. Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred, but not required.

SALARY: VOLUNTEER

HOURS: 2 CREDIT HOURS (100 TOTAL HOURS - PASS FAIL GRADE)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Field Organizers will have the chance to work on an exciting and coordinated grassroots organization and will gain valuable experience in a variety of skills including database and volunteer management, social media management, voter outreach through phone banking and canvassing, media and public relations, marketing and fundraising

RESPONSIBILITES: Coordinating initiative projects between various political entities, non-profits, unions, student organizations, and community grassroots organizationsManaging volunteer canvasses and phone banksBuilding volunteer participation by constructing a recruitment planOrganizing an effective fundraising plan

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Office of Senator Bob Corker has intern positions available. The field office deals with concerns of the community on a personal basis and represents Senator Corker when they cannot be present in person at various events and activities. An intern in this office would assist the Field Representative and Constituent Services Representative in everyday functions of the office and with targeted projects.

The student must be a self-starter able to carry out projects with little supervision, excellent communication skills, particularly over the phone, good writing skills and good knowledge of current events. Typical duties include answering the phones and work with constituents to convey their opinions to Senator Corker, review daily newspaper for pertinent news items, assist constituents with case work and communicate with local and regional law enforcement officials when assisting in security and planning visits of the senators and other dignitaries. Students will have the opportunity to participate in Senator Corker's visits to the Tri-Cities area and assist Field Representative on various targeted projects.

OFFICE OF U.S. CONGRESSMAN PHIL ROE
KINGSPORT AND MORRISTOWN, TN FIELD OFFICES

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Congressional Offices of Congressman Phil Roe is seeking qualified students to fill the internship position at their Kingsport and Morristown, Tennessee field offices. Congressional Office for Congressman Phil Roe provides constituent service and participates in the legislative process of the United States on behalf of the citizens of the First Congressional District of Tennessee.

 Basic duties of the student will be mail distribution, answering phones, correspondence media clippings, research, compiling information, and special projects. Minimum qualifications include proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Preferred skills include excellent communication skills both verbal and written, discretion and confidentiality with handling of congressional work, capable of working efficiently on an individual and team basis, and compassionate to constituent needs.
