Academic Coaching is a free program designed to assist new ETSU students with the transition to college and support their academic success.
How does Academic Coaching work?
New students are paired with an upper level ETSU student who acts as a coach, mentor, and friend. Students meet with their coaches for 30 minutes every week, and coaches are available outside of meetings via email and text to help students get quick answers to academic questions. Participating in coaching is a great way to stay on track, reduce stress, and increase students' confidence in the college environment.
Coaches work with students on several factors that are critical for academic success, including:
- Goal Setting
- Time Management
- Effective Study Strategies
- Project Planning
- Note Taking
- Test Taking Strategies
- Reflecting on behaviors and improving performance
- Connection to campus resources
