Student Access & Success Programs

One of the best aspects of being a mentor is that it is flexible you and the mentee can decide on how the relationship will work. We do, however, have some minimal expectations of mentors, including:

  • Be yourself and allow your mentees to be her/himself
  • Be a good listener.
  • Set expectations with the mentee for how and when you will contact each other
  • Meet five (5) times each semester outside of class
  • Help your mentee in identifying and setting goals, tracking progress and making changes
  • Approach mentoring relationship with an open mind, professionalism and respect
  • Respond to all communications in timely manner
  • Follow up on commitments made with your mentee
