Energy Conservation
  • Utilize natural light
  • Turn off the lights when you leave a room
  • Un-plug electronics when not in use
  • Set your computer/laptop to sleep when not in use
  • Set the thermostat to a moderate temperature: when heating 68-72 and when cooling 74-78
  • Wash your clothes in cold water
  • Avoid decorative lighting
Water Conservation
  • Turn off the water when brushing your teeth or shaving
  • Take shorter showers
  • Wash only full loads of laundry
  • Wash only full loads of dishes
  • Fix any leaky faucets by emailing
Waste Reduction and Recycling
  • Avoid disposable products (cups, plates, silverware, coffee mugs etc.)
  • Print double sided when you have to print
  • Utilize recycling in the residence halls (to find out more about recycling click here)
  • Buy from thrift stores
  • Pack your lunch in a reusable container
  • Take your own to-go container to restaurants
Alternative Transportation on Campus
  • Carpool whenever possible
  • Walk or bike around campus
  • Avoid 1 stop trips
  • Utilize the Buc shot and JCT buses (you get free rides for being a student)
