Adobe Connect Introduction Part 1

Adobe Connect is a web conferencing application that has been made available to all ETSU faculty and staff members at no charge. It can be used to easily hold meetings online, at any time, for participants anywhere in the world. Connect allows users to communicate with others via text, voice, and video. Participants are also able to share common document types (PowerPoint, PDF, JPG, MP3, etc.) and their own computer screens. The meeting can even be recorded and shared later if desired.

Objectives:

  • Log into Connect and manage your account (all workshop attendees will be given individual accounts)
  • Create a Connect meeting
  • Manage user permissions and roles
  • Manage the various features within Connect including: Chat, Notes, Attendees, Camera & Voice, and Sharing
  • Make an archived recording of a meeting and share it with others

Adobe Connect Introduction Part 2

This workshop builds on the information presented in Adobe Connect Introduction Part 1 workshop, and specifically focuses on how to customize and manage Adobe Connect meetings effectively in order to lead more interesting and fluid online sessions.

  • Manage the flow of the meeting
  • Share meeting recordings with others
  • Manage intermediate permission options
  • Manage multiple pod instances
  • Explore more of the pod options

Adobe InDesign Introduction Part 1

Adobe InDesign is one of the most used and recognized tools in the print industry for creating the layout and design of periodical publications and a variety of other print media. It also includes the most robust typography tools of any of the noted design tools in Adobe’s Creative Suite. This workshop will provide individuals with a brief introduction to using Adobe InDesign, and will include several hands-on exercises. Additional learning resources will also be discussed for those looking for more training.

Objectives:

  • Become familiar with the Adobe InDesign interface
  • Understand the basic principles of creating and working with documents inside Adobe InDesign
  • Add text to a page and control text flow and appearance
  • Add images and incorporate them into the design of your document
  • Create and manipulate custom shapes

Adobe Photoshop Introduction Part 1

Learn the basic tools and operations of Photoshop, a powerful image editing program used by professional designers and photographers. In this introductory workshop series, even beginning users can learn the fundamental techniques involved in improving family snapshots, creating web images, or even creating complex works of art. This workshop focuses on producing images for computer screens rather than for print.

Objectives:

  • Understand basic graphic types
  • Add text to an image
  • Resize and crop images
  • Work with layers
  • Make basic color and blending adjustments to a layer
  • Save a Photoshop document

Adobe Photoshop Introduction Part 2

This workshop will introduce the concept of using selections and layer masks to manipulate images in Photoshop. Selections can be used to modify specific areas of a digital image, make more accurate selections within an image, and modify an image without affecting the original. In a similar fashion, adjustment layers allow users to dramatically alter the color settings of a digital image without changing the original.

  • Create, Modify and Clear Simple Selections
  • Create Complex Selections
  • Understand and Create Masks

Adobe Photoshop Introduction Part 3

Photoshop is an excellent tool to help manipulate, restore, and improve your photographs, whether they originated from a digital camera or were scanned in from traditional film. This workshop will introduce concepts, tools, and information which are fundamental to the basic manipulation of photographs. These tools include the clone stamp tool, the healing brush, and several basic color adjustments.
