ETSU STUDENT PHARMACISTS MAKE A GLOBAL IMPACT IN MALAWI
For a group of student pharmacists and faculty from ETSU's Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, two weeks in rural Malawi became much more than an international service trip.
Each day brought a new challenge as students helped establish a field clinic and pharmacy in a different village before stepping into patient care roles that matched their level of training. Whether assisting with pharmacy services, patient screenings or health education, they learned the importance of flexibility, teamwork, and cultural humility.

Set in an outdoor-lover’s paradise, ETSU’s main campus is located in beautiful and vibrant Johnson City, Tennessee. It is a short drive to numerous thriving mountain towns including Bristol, Kingsport, and historic Jonesborough, as well as Asheville in bordering North Carolina.
And with gorgeous lakes, rivers, and hiking and biking trails nearby — including more than 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail — there is always something new to explore.
