Mr. Lowe came to the Smithsonian Institution in 1976 as Deputy Director of the Press and has been responsible for revitalizing marketing techniques used there. The Press produces the federally funded Smithsonian Series publications, exhibit catalogs and other publications. Lowe has worked closely with the former press director in revamping the editorial, design and production processes for publications. He taught in the Arlington County, Va., school system for three years and was responsible for teaching evening adult education courses as a member of the faculty of the University of Virginia. He also lectured in George Washington University's Publications Specialist Program. He has held management positions with publishing houses and non-profit organizations, and in 1978 served as a judge for the MOCKINGBIRD, ETSU's multiple art magazine which has won numerous awards nationwide.
