Bishop Hunt, a United Methodist bishop, author and educator, resides in Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. He has received several honorary degrees that include a doctor of divinity from Tusculum College and a doctor of law from the University of Chattanooga, as well as doctorates from Emory and Duke Universities and Lambuth and Bethune-Cookman Colleges. He served as president of Virginia's Emory and Henry College from 1956-64. A member of the General Board of Education of the United Methodist Church since 1956, he was elected and consecrated bishop of the church in 1964. Bishop Hunt has authored two books, I Have Believed and A Bishop Speaks His Mind.
