ETSU is proud to launch its “Now Seating” campaign as part of the exciting new ETSU Arts Initiative. Through “Now Seating,” individuals or organizations can purchase seats in one of the three facilities – a 1,400-seat concert hall, a 500-seat theater, and a 250-seat recital hall – that will be located in the new arts center. This is a wonderful opportunity to honor or remember a child, spouse, other family member, friend, favorite professor, or a company or organization.
Each seat can be purchased for $250.
Does my sponsorship of a seat entitle me to use that specific seat for performances or events?
No, the seat sponsorship does not automatically entitle you to utilize that specific seat you have sponsored for yourself or others of your choosing during performances or events;
however, you may be able to select and purchase a ticket, if needed for a seat or seats for performances or events, so that you are seated in the seat or seats that you sponsored.
I wish to select where my sponsored seat will be located in the Concert Hall, Theatre, or Recital Hall. May I select that specific location?
We will make a reasonable effort to assist you so that you may select the location of your sponsored seat(s) in either the Concert Hall, Theatre, or Recital Hall; however, these seats are sponsored on a “first come, first served” basis, so although a reasonable effort may be made to accommodate your wishes, there cannot be a guarantee that your first desired sponsored seat location will be available to you. The “first come, first served” basis will entitle you to a priority in the selection process that will be announced in the future.
In the past the university had campaigns to sponsor seats in the VA Theatre and the Mathes Hall Music Recital Room, respectively. I sponsored a seat or seats for those campaigns and facilities. Am I entitled to “move” my past seat sponsorship(s) from those facilities to the new Arts Center?
Yes. In recognition of your past support with these prior seat sponsorships, you will be contacted (or please contact University Advancement at 423.439.4242) to ascertain where you wish your past seat sponsorship to be noted with a seat sponsorship(s) in the new Arts Center facilities, up to the gift value of your prior support.
What if I sponsor a seat and the fundraising goal is not reached and the Arts Center is not built? May I receive a refund of my gift?
In the highly unlikely event that the Arts Center is not built, then donors may (1) request a refund of a gift made, or (2) in the donor’s discretion, request that the ETSU Foundation “re-purpose” the gift to an ETSU Foundation fund of the donor’s choice to support the university. If the donor requests a refund and the donor has already included the gift to the ETSU Foundation on his/her federal income tax return as a charitable gift for the charitable deduction, then he/she will need to file an amended tax return in consultation with his/her tax preparer.
