Hello students! Welcome to the College of Arts and
Sciences Biological Sciences Advisement web site. This web site is designed to assist you with the academic advisement process as a Biology major. If you do not find the answer to your questions on this web site, please contact your advisor for further assistance.
The individual advisor that you must see for help and advisement with the Biology requirements depends on your specific number of completed credit hours. Joanna Cyrier will be advising those students who have less than 90 credit hours. This includes the Standard Biology Major, the Alternative Concentration, the Secondary Biology Education Concentration, and the Biochemistry Concentration. Her contact information is listed below on the right. Appointments are to be scheduled for advisement with Joanna Cyrier by calling the Medical Professions Advisement desk at 423-439-5602.
Those students who have completed 90 credit or more credit hours need to meet with Dr. Hugh Miller in the Department of Biological Sciences. His contact information can be found on the Department of Biological Sciences web site link on the left on this page. His office is located in room 306 Brown Hall. He sees students for academic advisement during his office hours which are posted on his door. These do change every semester.
Please see the Student Advisement link on the left of the web page for a detailed description of the Biology core requirements.
Please contact the main Biology office if you want to request a permit for a course or if you have any questions about course substitutions. Remember that a permit may or may not be available for a specific course. The main Biology office number is 423-439-4329 and is located in room 125 Brown Hall.
