A Bit about the GRE
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) measures verbal reasoning, quantitative and verbal reasoning and analytical writing skills required for Graduate School admission.
Verbal Reasoning
+ Time - 30 minutes
+ Length - 20 multiple-choice questions
+ Format - Sentence Completion, Analogy, Reading Comprehension, and Antonym
+ Content - Tests vocabulary, verbal reasoning skills, and the ability to read with understanding and insight.
Quantitative
+ Time - 35 minutes
+ Length - 20 multiple-choice questions
+ Format - Quantitative Comparison, Problem Solving, and Data Interpretation (graph questions)
+ Content - Tests basic mathematical skills, ability to understand mathematical concepts, and quantitative reasoning skills
Analytical Writing
+ Time - 60 minutes
+ Length - 2 essay prompts
+ Format - Perspective on an Issue and Analyze an Argument
+ Content - Tests ability to understand and analyze arguments and to understand and draw logical conclusions
Three scores are reported on the GRE General Test: a Verbal Reasoning score reported on a 200-800 score scale, in 10-point increments; a Quantitative Reasoning score reported on a 200-800 score scale, in 10-point increments; an Analytical Writing score reported on a 0-6 score scale, in half-point increments.
