ETSU Summer Piano Camp Inaugurates the First Annual
LaFaye Vickers Ross Scholarship Benefit Concert

Featuring Dr. David Runner, organist

Sunday, July 6, 2008, 3:00 pm
Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church
Johnson City, TN

ETSU's Summer Piano Camp is pleased to inaugurate the first annual LaFaye Vickers Ross Scholarship Benefit Concert to establish a piano camp scholarship program.

The featured artist, Dr. David Runner, will perform organ works of Krebs, Reger, Locklair, Shearing and others.  Dr. Runner, Professor of Music at Milligan College and this summer's piano camp special guest clinician, will conduct classes in organ performance techniques for pianists.  Other camp curriculum will include private piano lessons, piano and organ literature, ear training, theory, master classes in piano and organ, piano ensemble, percussion ensemble and chorus.

The LaFaye Vickers Ross Scholarship Benefit Concert is sponsored by Dr. James A. Ross, husband of the late LaFaye Vickers Ross.  Mrs. Ross enjoyed a teaching career in the public schools of Thomasville; GA, Baltimore, MD, Johnson City, TN, and Washington County, TN.  Before moving to Johnson City in 1982, she played organ and piano at Fredonia Baptist Church in Thomasville, GA.  While raising their family in Johnson City, Dr. and Mrs. Ross were devoted patrons of the arts.

For more information, contact Jerilyn Paolini at 423-439-4418 or paolini@etsu.edu.  Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door.  A minimum donation of $10 per ticket is suggested.  All contributions to the LaFaye Vickers Ross Scholarship Benefit Concert are eligible for tax deduction.
