BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Elbert Haynes Miller and W. H. Miller formed two successful Johnson City businesses with other members of their family: The Miller Brothers Lumber Company and Central Tobacco Warehouse. E. H. Miller was president of both companies. Miller built the Girl Scout cabins, Edgewood Lodge, and he was a well-known sportsman.
Miller married Marion Louise Friberg. They had three daughters: Sara Miller Gump, Marion Haynes Miller, and Dorothy Jane Miller. He died April 25, 1942.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The Miller Family Papers center around a genealogy of Elbert Haynes Miller and his wife, Marion Louise Friberg. Several newspaper articles relating to the building of the Central Tobacco Warehouse, and the reorganization of the Miller Brothers Company from a lumber company to a hardwood floor company. Accounts of family vacations are also included. A brief sketch of the life of Andrew Friberg, Mrs. Miller's father is also recorded.
