A A A

For twenty-five years, Now & Then: The Appalachian Magazine has told the stories of Appalachia. In 1984, Now & Then began its life as the newsletter of ETSU's newly-formed Center for Appalachian Studies and Services.

From that promising beginning as a sixteen page newsletter, the magazine has grown to an eighty page per issue magazine.  Through the years, the magazine has highlighted the works of many of Appalachian's most revered writers, poets, musicians, and visual artists. What has not changed in the intervening years is our commitment to a region we love.

Published twice a year (spring/summer and fall/winter) and shipped to subscribers in thirty-plus states and several foreign countries, we invite you to become the latest member of the Now & Then family.
