As an accounting graduate, you may enter public accounting, private industry or pursue a career in government or not-for-profit organizations. Some of the most exciting opportunities are in forensic accountancy – the study of fraudulent financial activity where you might review records and provide evidence for the prosecution of white-collar criminals. Career opportunities exist with the FBI, GAO or IRS. Other accounting careers for you include internal auditing, tax preparation and planning or management accounting.

Business valuations including mergers and acquisitions – evaluating candidates for corporate takeover – are growing fields. Another growth area that you might pursue as an accounting graduate is the evaluatiion of corporate control systems and helping businesses improve their risk management.
