Student Teaching

Student teaching at East Tennessee State University is the
culminating field experience in which prospective teachers
demonstrate their knowledge of subject matter, teaching
methods, and child growth and development. It is the time
when they have opportunity to display and strengthen their
commitment to the personal and professional qualities
included in the Conceptual Framework of the
College of Education.

"Teaching requires my willingness to continue learning on my own and from others. Learning is a road that does not end, and I must follow it. I cannot challenge my students to learn if I do not continue to challenge myself. I have learned from both my mentor teachers. Both have given me constructive skills and ideas to incorporate into my personal teaching methods. Time will be my greatest mentor as I go into the classroom.
Teaching mathematics is what I want to do."

-Victor Burk, Spring 2008 Student Teacher
