Criteria for Selection

ALPHA DELTA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP

  • Junior or Senior Education major
  • Resident of Tennessee (preferably East Tennessee)
  • GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
  • Alpha Delta Kappa will choose who will receive the available scholarships

MR. AND MRS. HERBERT C. ARMENTROUT SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

  • Full-time undergraduate
  • Teacher education major
  • Minimum GPA – 2.80
  • Demonstrates potential and motivation for teaching
  • Documented financial need

BARE-WADE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Demonstrated commitment to education
  • Demonstrated good moral character
  • Documented financial need

VIRGINIA RUTH BARNES SCHOLARSHIP

  • Undergraduate
  • Minimum GPA – 3.0 on 4.0 Scale
  • Demonstrated commitment to teach at elementary, middle school, or secondary level in the area of personal health and nutrition

CLAUDIUS AND KATHERINE EARNEST CLEMMER ENDOWMENT

  • Priority given to Tennessee Residents
  • Junior, Senior, or Graduate in Teacher Education
  • 2.8 GPA or above
  • Demonstrated financial need considered
  • Show potential for successful teaching career
NIC AND JENNY CLEMMER COLLEGE OF EDUCATION ENDOWMENT
  • Undergraduate
    • High school graduate of Kingsport City Schools
    • Working on degree in Clemmer College of Education
    • Minimum GPA—3.0
  • Graduate
    • Currently employed in Kingsport City School system
    • Working on further teaching credentials or graduate degree in Clemmer College of Education
    • Minimum GPA—3.5
  • Documented financial need
LAUREN COLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
  • Declared major in Parks & Recreation Management
  • Must be a Senior
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to community service
  • Must submit a short essay on the combined topics:
      • Parks & Recreation
        • 1) Why is it important?
        • 2) What I plan to do with my degree?
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA

  • Must be a Tennessee student
  • Must be an elementary or secondary education major

SARA J. GOODIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
  • Possess a baccalaureate degree with an Arts and Sciences major which is also a state approved teacher education program at ETSU
  • 3.2 undergraduate GPA
  • Documented financial need
  • Two of the four recommendations must be from faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences
HARLEY-McCLASKEY SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT
  • Undergraduate
  • Declared minor in Leadership Studies
  • Completed 2 required courses in the Leadership Minor
  • Overall 3.0 GPA
  • Completed one Leadership Portfolio item through the Leadership Minor

E.E. & MARGARET JOHNSON HAWKINS MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT FUND
  • Minimum 2.6 GPA on all High School work (if entering freshman)
  • 2.6 GPA on all college work (transfer and ETSU students)
  • Preparing to teach at elementary or secondary levels
  • Must complete full load each semester to qualify for subsequent semester award

  • Must be admitted to the teacher education program in early childhood education

  • Must be an undergraduate or graduate education major
  • Preference given to students from Greene County

  • $1,000 per student if funds are available, otherwise College of Education will determine awards

  • 3.0 GPA: Undergraduate, 3.5 GPA: Graduate
  • For Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students, must be full-time Major:
    • Undergraduate: Elementary or Secondary Teacher Education, with low priority given to P.E., Music, and Art
    • Graduate: Counseling (Community Agency)
  • Priority: Female Student, if all applicants are equal
  • Demonstrate potential for success as a teacher or counselor

  • Mini grant for faculty or student for research in the Child Study Center
  • Mini grant for training opportunities to regular and special educators in rural settings
