EOC Make-up Mandatory - End of Course Exams Mandatory: All EOC Make Ups will be on Friday, May 8th, in Meeting Room 6 of the Culp Center. This will be the ONLY make-up opportunity. If students will require a make-up for more than one test please let Ms. Shaw know ASAP so that she can schedule it. Also, please remember that this exam counts as 25% of their second semester grade so make-up is mandatory

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP): University School has been selected to represent schools across the nation by participating in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). In our school, the NAEP assessment will be given on February 17th to 4th Grade and February 18th to 8th grade There is no need to study in preparation for NAEP. We do ask, however, that you encourage your child to do their best and get plenty of rest the night before the assessment. View Parent Information Letter
ALL 9th, 10th and 11th grade students are REQUIRED to take the TCAP Writing exam. Every student in every grade level 3-11 is required to take this exam. This exam is NOT tied to English classes—it is a SCHOOLWIDE exam and SCHOOLWIDE score so every student must be tested. Taking dual enrollment courses or taking English in a different grade level from enrollment does NOT exempt a student from this exam. Please be aware that this exam is coming up!
EXPLORE Testing for 8th Graders
All eighth graders will take the EXPLORE exam at school on Monday, October 6, 2014. The EXPLORE is a mandatory exam required by the state and is administered free-of-charge. The EXPLORE offers both a vocational assessment and a predictor score for the PLAN (pre-ACT college admissions exam). Results will help students to make future academic choices to keep them on track for college admission.
PLAN Testing for Sophomores
The PLAN (pre-ACT) will be taken by all Sophomores during the school day on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. The PLAN is a mandatory exam required by the state and is administered free-of-charge. The PLAN gives predictor scores for the ACT, as well as excellent study information for obtaining the best possible score on the ACT. Also, see information below about taking an optional PSAT.
ACT/PSAT Testing for Juniors
The State of Tennessee will again be providing a state ACT testing date when Juniors may take it free of charge. The state testing day will be March 3, 2015. If for any reason you cannot be present on March 3, 2015, you will have the opportunity to get a voucher to take the exam for free by registering for a national exam. Please see Ms. Shaw to get a voucher to register for the ACT if you cannot be present on March 3.
The PSAT (pre-SAT) will be given on October 15, 2014 and is recommended for Juniors as excellent practice for the SAT. The PSAT must also be taken in the Junior year in order to qualify as a National Merit Scholar. Although the PSAT is recommended for Juniors, registration is open to other grade levels as well. The PSAT will provide a predictor score for the SAT as well as study information. The cost for this exam is $17 (checks payable to University School only). Students must register with Ms. Robinson and pay for the exam at the time of registration. Students may register between October 2 and 13—no earlier. Registration will be on a first come, first served basis and will open to other schools on October 3.
