Rural Family Medicine
Mission:
The Rural Family Medicine elective is designed to expose senior
medical students in rural primary care practice. Students will be
involved in direct patient care with supervision by the preceptor.
Objectives:
The aim of the Rural Family Medicine elective is to provide the
student with experience in the care of both inpatients and
outpatients in a rural clinic, with increased responsibilities over
that required by the third-year students. This experience will
provide an in-depth exposure to rural communities resulting in an
increased understanding of the depth and breadth of rural family
medicine.
