James Holt, MD, FAAFP, Associate Professor and Associate Program Director/Johnson City Center

Dr. Holt was born in Michigan, but raised in Baltimore. He is the fifth of six children. He attended Princeton University, receiving an A.B. in Biochemistry and a teaching license in math and science, graduating cum laude. Dr. Holt completed his medical school at the University of Maryland in 1982 and served his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Dr. Holt practiced at a rural health clinic in Warrenton, NC from 1985 to 1988 and at a private group practice in Lancaster, SC, from 1988 to 2001. Dr. Holt has served as Medical Director, Program Director and his current position as Associate Program Director since joining the Johnson City Family Practice Residency Program in August 2001. He has chaired the Curriculum Committee for most of the time since March 2003. He will have completed his training with the National Institute for Program Director Development in January 2013 Dr. Holt and his wife Judy have five children ranging in age from 11 to 19.
