Charles Allen, M.D.

Charles Allen I grew up in a small midwestern town in Wisconsin. After completing my undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin, I went on to complete medical school at the University of Louisville.  Prior to residency, I was a member of the Wisconsin Air National Guard for 16 years.  First I was a jet engine mechanic for five years, and then I worked as a medic for eight years, before transitioning into a physician’s role. Finally, I became a flight surgeon and had the awesome privilege of flying in F-16s!  I first came to Johnson City and ETSU as a participant in the Appalachian Preceptorship in Rural Family Medicine after my first year of medical school.
I really enjoyed the area and I was impressed with the level of teaching from the faculty. It was during my participation with the rural preceptorship that I decided to pursue a career in family medicine. I witnessed the positive impact that each family physician had on his or her many patients. After residency, I plan to do a sports medicine fellowship. I am very active. I love to compete in sports and I enjoy the outdoors. I look forward to becoming a member of the Johnson City community!
