Devapiran Jaishankar, MD is Associate Professor in the Division of Hematology- Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine at the Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City. He received his medical degree from Madras Medical College in Chennai, India. He completed Internal Medicine residency training at East Tennessee State University and then practiced General Internal Medicine in Kentucky. He completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology at East Tennessee State University and was ranked amongst the top two percent in the nation in the ABIM Oncology Board certification.
He currently serves as Associate Program Director of the Medical Oncology Fellowship Program at East Tennessee State University. He is the Vice chair of the Oncology Physician Advisory Committee overseeing Oncology services within the Mountain States Health Alliance and East Tennessee State University-Division of Oncology. He is an active member of the Oncology Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee and Blood Utilization committee. He directs and steers the multidisciplinary tumor board at Johnson City Medical Center. His professional memberships include the American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology.
Dr. Jaishankar is the recipient of the “The Dr. Thomas .G. Ronald Award” For Excellence in the care of the Cancer Patient. He has been nominated for several teaching awards by the medical student body at Quillen College of Medicine. He is a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He has served as an editorial consultant to the American College of Physicians. His clinical interests include, Lymphomas, Breast and Thoracic Oncology. His academic focus is teaching medical students, residents and oncology fellows. His academic interests include standardization of care and quality metrics in the cancer care continuum. He is ABIM board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.
