Why not Quillen? The area is beautiful, the class size is small (72), and the University
provides superior academics and instruction. Our faculty and staff are amazing and
each day I am able to spend time with 71 friends. Quillen is a family.
Being a Quillen Student
Medical school requires a lot of time and work as you might suspect, but our faculty
is always here to help; as well as support from other classmates. In addition, there
are numerous opportunities available to become involved with the community and colleagues...whether
it is talking to young children about the risks of smoking, working at the free migrant
clinic, or playing intramural sports. All these activities help to keep my personal
life, academic life, and professional life balanced.
Living in Northeast Tennessee
Other than being beautiful, this is an ideal area for outdoor enthusiast. There is
a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, white water rafting, rock climbing,
I was born in Florida and moved to Johnson City, as a preteen. I graduated from East
Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Microbiology.
Words of Wisdom
The most important advice is to enjoy what you are doing. Next, it is essential for
your well-being to stay balanced. You will stay healthier and maintain the necessary
endurance for medical school. Finally, it is important to set aside time each day
or at least several times per week to break away from school. For example, my daily
escape is exercising and over the weekends, I try to find time for outdoor activities
