Biggest Loser winner to speak at
ETSU
Matt Hoover, winner of NBC’s
The Biggest Loser 2, will keynote the
annual Lamb Lecture at East Tennessee State
University on Thursday, March 30, at 7 p.m.
The event will be held in the Martha Street Culp
Auditorium of the D.P. Culp University Center.
Hoover won the grand prize of $250,000 while
appearing on the NBC reality show in fall 2005.
When first cast on
The Biggest Loser 2, he weighed 339
pounds. Throughout the show, viewers watched Hoover
and the other contestants undergo intensive
instruction by personal trainers, nutritionists,
and doctors regarding healthy living, proper diet,
and exercise.
During the Nov. 29 finale of
The Biggest Loser 2, Hoover weighed in at
182 pounds, representing a total weight loss of 157
pounds.
Since winning the contest, Hoover has appeared on
Regis & Kelly, The Today Show, Access
Hollywood, Larry King Live, and several other
programs, as well as in
People Magazine. He is currently sharing
his story of health, wellness, and weight loss as a
public speaker to various groups and organizations.
Hoover’s lecture is free and open to the
public. The event is sponsored by Eta Sigma Gamma
honor society and the ETSU Department of Public
Health. The Lamb Lecture Series honors the late
John P. Lamb, Jr., former dean of health at ETSU.
