The objectives of the US-Brazil Cross-linguistic Consortium in Speech & Hearing Sciences are to:
  1. Promote cross-linguistic understanding of communication disabilities in children through academic coursework and clinical practica;
  2. Advance work with families from an ecological model of child development;
  3. Cultivate cultural competence to understand social and cultural influences on service delivery;
  4. Develop research projects involving research syntheses and investigations that examine the social and cultural impact of communication disabilities within the ICF-CF framework;
  5. Improve communication between US and Brazil faculty and students to support sustainability of research collaborations.
