Amount of award:	Approximately $12,000 for twelve-month tenure plus a cost-of-education allowance of $6,000 paid directly to the graduate institution for tuition and fees.  Award is renewable for up to three years.
Procedure Approximately 780 three-year graduate fellowships for study and research in the sciences, mathematics, physics, biology, engineering, social sciences and in history and philosophy of science. Program is open to U.S. citizens and nationals at or near the beginning of graduate study. Students apply directly to the National Science Foundation. Applications are available in October and due in mid-November.
