Progressive Disciplinary Procedures and Training

TO: All ETSU Faculty and Staff

FROM:  Human Resources

SUBJECT: Progressive Disciplinary Procedures, PPP-70

DATE: October 20, 2009

To facilitate a productive and harmonious working environment, ETSU employees are expected to follow all established departmental, University and Tennessee Board of Regents’ policies and procedures. Employees are also expected to achieve and maintain standards of conduct, behavior, attendance and job performance consistent with the requirements of their position. In the event that disciplinary action must be taken against an employee for misconduct or poor performance, the University provides the Progressive Disciplinary Procedures, PPP-70, to ensure prompt, consistent and fair treatment of all employees.

These procedures apply to all regular full-time and part-time administrative/professional and support employees, and are made available to all supervisors and employees.

The review of PPP-70 is mandatory for employees in many ETSU Colleges and Departments.  (Your chain of command will instruct you if you must complete the mandatory training.) To complete the mandatory training you may attend a workshop offered by the Office of Human Resources,  and sign a registration form; or, you may complete the Progressive Disciplinary Procedures Training via the Internet.   To confirm your participation in the Internet training, you must provide the mandatory data requested on the last page of the training slide show.   This data is accessible to the Office of Human Resources to verify participation.  You may also complete a Certificate of Completion that you may print, and send a copy to the Office of Human Resources, Box 70564, for inclusion into your personnel folder.

Thank you for your cooperation.  For additional information or questions, please contact Diana McClay, Associate Director, Office of Human Resources, 439-6125.
