DEFINITION

Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in short order cooking, routine kitchen work, and waiting on customers and performing related work as required.
 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

- Prepares fast foods such as sandwiches, hamburgers, and prepared soups.

- Takes orders and serves customers.

- Operates a cash register.

- Cleans kitchen, dining room, trays, food carts, and other kitchen equipment as needed.

- Performs other work as assigned.
 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

- Knowledge of modern methods, materials, and equipment used in food service.

- Ability to prepare simple foods such as sandwiches.

- Ability to operate a cash register.

- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, the public and other employees.
 

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Completion of the eighth grade. Some experience in food preparation and serving the public. Applicants should possess a current health card issued by the County Public Health Department.
