What is the cost of a repurposed PC?
The cost is $125, which covers an extended warranty (hardware and software support) on the 4 year-old computer for an additional 2 years.

How long can I keep the repurposed PC?
The repurposed PC belongs to your department until the end of life and it is surplus.

How many repurposed computers are going to be awarded?

The Repurposed Computer Program and will be keeping at least 10% (40 a year) of the Dell computers scheduled for replacement if not more.  We will award as many as ITS has available and can accommodate.  This year we are doing 137.

How many times a year will the repurposed project be opened for request?

ITS is hoping to open up the request form twice a year for two weeks. Once in the spring and once in the fall.

What can the repurposed PCs be used for?

These computers are intended to provide computing resources in areas not eligible for university sponsored machines. Examples would include student use, graduate assistants, adjuncts, and generic departmental use.

Is there a limit on how many you can request?

No, but ITS does want to distribute these repurposed PCs as fairly and evenly across campus as possible.

How are these PCs awarded?

These repurposed PCs are awarded based on what they are going to be used for, who is going to be using them, are they replacing an existing PC and how old the existing PC the replacing is.
