2008 Summer Research Institute
Program Dates: July 7 – August 16, 2008
Time Commitment: Program activities may require up to eight hours per
day,
M-F throughout the duration of the program.
Planned Seminars:
• Assistance with improvement of writing skills
• Assistance with research statistics
• Training in conducting your own research
• GRE test-taking preparation
• Assistance with preparing a successful application to graduate
school
• Assistance with public speaking and presentations
• Funding graduate education
• And many others….!
Participants will receive:
• $2800.00 payable in increments throughout summer program
• On-campus housing *(certain restrictions apply)
• Use of a wireless laptop
• Use of the McNair Resource Room and Scholar Lounge
• Strong consideration for additional internships during the
academic year
• Many other benefits associated with McNair Scholarship
All participants of the 2008 summer program will
complete (all expenses paid) a graduate school visit. This trip will
be taken as a group and may include overnight travel.
The McNair
Program seeks undergraduate students who desire to
ultimately attain a
doctoral degree. Paid
internships provide a variety of services that enhance
participant’s
credentials as prospective graduate students, including
mentoring relationships with ETSU
professors, opportunities to participate in and present
research, GRE
preparation and educational travel.
The
McNair program prepares students to undertake study
leading to a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) Degree in any
field. We do not provide preparation for professional
programs such as a Medical Doctor, Doctor of Pharmacy,
Doctor of Physical Therapy, Dental Hygiene Degrees, or Juris Doctorates (Law Degree). For those interested in
