Youth Programs

The museum offers many programs for kids to attend!

  • Summer Camp at the museum is a week-long paleo experience for kids from Pre-K through 8th grade. Campers learn about one of their favorite subjects- fossils!- by digging on a real fossil site, going behind the scenes in the lab, making fossil casts, and more! Summer Camp is a unique opportunity for activity-rich science in our region (and it's a lot of fun!). The 2014 Summer Camp Application Form can be found here. Please mail completed form to 1212 Suncrest Drive, Gray, TN 37615, email to  or fax to 423-439-3658.
  • Boy Scouts can get their Geology Merit Badge with a focus in Natural History in a few hours at the site. Scouts will do hands-on activities, dig on the site, and learn about the geologic history of the region. More information about the Merit Badge requirements that are addressed during the program can be found here .
  • Cub Scouts (Webelos) can get their Belt Loop and Pin in Geology with many hands-on activities including digging on the fossil site spoil piles. More information about the Belt Loop and Pin requirements that are addressed during the program can be found here.
  • Girl Scouts love our annual winter program- Winter Wonderland –a great program full of fun science activities related to the cold! We are developing new programs to correlate with the new Girl Scout Journeys- check back soon for more details.
  • Patch Programs- Any child can attend one of the museum Patch Programs we offer! During a Patch Program, kids visit our latest exhibit, do hands-on activities, and get their own souvenir patch. These activities allow little scientists to explore exhibit concepts through unique experiments and experiences.
