JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 22, 2013) — The East Tennessee State University student Entrepreneurs’ Club will welcome alumna Mary Ellen “Mel” Miller as its speaker on Monday, Nov. 4, at 5 p.m. in room 334 of Sam Wilson Hall.
Miller’s topic will be “From Entrepreneurs’ Club Member to Real-life Entrepreneur — Pitfalls and Smart Moves: MarketingMel’s Story.” She will be accompanied by fellow ETSU graduate and MarketingMel employee Sarah Kinsler, who was an associate for the FIGURE 8 student-run publicity firm as a student.
Miller is founder and president of MarketingMel, an innovative marketing, public relations and social media strategies firm for business professionals. MarketingMel has taken top Tri-Cities TN/VA Public Relations Awards for clients.
Since beginning her career as a television anchorwoman, Miller has been a professional communicator. She frequently speaks on “personal branding” and “social media for business,” and she was lead speaker at SoloPR Atlanta this year.
Also, Miller is a monthly columnist for “Out ‘N About Magazine,” and she has been featured on numerous radio, blog talk radio and television programs.
In addition to her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, Miller holds a master of business administration degree from ETSU.
