Star Party to show how visitors can ‘See the Universe from ETSU’

ETSU Amphitheatre

JOHNSON CITY (Nov. 1, 2013) – “Seeing the Universe from ETSU” is the theme of the November Star Party at East Tennessee State University’s Harry Powell Observatory.

This free public Observatory Open House will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, from 8-10 p.m., with telescopes set up for visitors to view celestial objects.

Dr. Gary Henson, an associate professor in the ETSU Department of Physics and Astronomy, will give a brief talk.  Afterward, he and other ETSU astronomers will be available to assist guests with the telescopes and answer questions.

The Star Party will be cancelled in the event of cloud cover.  Visitors uncertain of weather conditions may call the observatory in advance at (423) 929-3382 to make sure the open house will be held.
