CURRENT RESEARCH

Dr. Yasin has a strong research interest in global health, particularly refugee health. Her doctoral capstone project entitled "An Assessment of Perceived Barriers to Health Care in Palestine by Volunteer Health Care Professionals on Medical Missions with the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF)" addressed ways that the health care system in Palestine can be improved through coordinated efforts. Dr. Yasin recently conducted a qualitative research study in Gaza Refugee Camp in Jerash, Jordan assessing life stressors and health determinants through the use of focus groups with refugees living in the camp, through a small RDC grant. She received a Major RDC Grant to continue this research, in which she will administer the World Health Quality of Life Scale and Human Insecurity and Distress Scales to those living in the camp to assess health related quality of life in order to improve health related services, particularly mental health. In addition, she is interested in global health and assessing and addressing adverse childhood experiences.
